Affected by the outbreak, Google and Microsoft stepped up to move some production capacity out of China

Nikkei Asian Review quoted unnamed sources on Wednesday as Google and Microsoft (MSFT) are stepping up their efforts to shift production of their hardware products from China as the coronavirus epidemic spreads.

The report said that Google may start producing smartphones in Vietnam as early as April and has asked suppliers to evaluate the feasibility of shipping idle equipment from China to this Southeast Asian country.

The report said that Microsoft may begin producing its notebook and desktop computers in Vietnam as early as the second quarter of this year.
